Computational Biology and Machine Learning Group (PI Bhaskar)

We are a computational group focused on machine learning, mechanistic modeling, and AI4Science. We develop new methods in geometric deep learning, topological data analysis and agent-based modeling to study complex biological systems.

A central theme of our work is tackling challenging inverse problems: using high-dimensional, noisy and time-resolved data to infer molecular and cellular mechanisms that drive emergent behavior and pattern formation. Our overarching goal is to develop biologically informed and interpretable AI/ML methods that reveal how structure and dynamics give rise to function across scales – from molecules and cells to neural circuits and behavior.
